Are you already drinking coffee with honey?
Want to stay in good health, not just during cold and flu season? Drink coffee with honey!
Boosting immunity is like a mantra repeated in basically every topic that deals with how to avoid all sorts of risks of autumn, winter, spring, and basically year-round respiratory illnesses, sore throats, etc. There's a lot of advice about what one should and shouldn't do. Let's be honest – we like to read it, but then we have trouble following it. But we have one piece of advice for you that consists of a simple habit related to the daily ritual of many people: drinking coffee.
A Protective Shield Full of Health Whether you're one of those who only needs one morning coffee or this hot, aromatic beverage is an indispensable companion throughout your day, switching from sugar to honey when sweetening it is a simple and painless way to continuously and significantly support your immunity and strengthen your health. Honey is, without exaggeration, a universal cure-all that contains all the substances needed to sustain life, including enzymes, flavonoids, vitamins, and minerals. It is a natural food that also contains "pinocembrin," which is an antioxidant associated with better brain function.
Suitable for Diabetics Too Someone might object that honey is very sweet, even sweeter than sugar! That's true, and that's why you don't need as much of it as sugar, but much less. Moreover, honey does not contain sucrose (so-called beet sugar). When sweetening with sugar, our human body first metabolically breaks it down into fructose and glucose. Only then are these simple sugars used in the human body. When using honey as a sweetener, this metabolically demanding breakdown for the body is eliminated. Seriously, how much sugar do you consume daily just in coffee? Honey doesn't harm diabetic patients either.
Fancy a Gourmet Experience? And don't worry, honey definitely won't ruin the taste of coffee, quite the opposite. Milan Špaček, a lifelong beekeeper and honey lover from Medokomerc, says: "Czechs are very used to sweetening, cooking, and baking with white sugar. However, the traditional concept of Czech cuisine historically used honey. I personally consume several teaspoons of honey daily because I can't imagine coffee without it. I prefer a caffè latte with two teaspoons of creamed honey." The easiest way is to use a dispenser with meadow honey (Medokomerc, approx. 50 CZK), which won't make a mess, or perhaps the well-known "Medvídek Medík" (Honey Bear), which is especially popular with children. Of course, this also applies to sweetening all kinds of teas, so we don't forget their lovers. And what honeys does Milan Špaček recommend from his experience for individual types of coffee, also melta (grain coffee) or tea?
- Turkish coffee – flower honey
- Drip coffee – Czech flower honey
- Espresso – Czech flower honey
- Latte – creamed honey
- Cappuccino – creamed honey
- Iced latte – flower honey
- Melta with honey and milk – creamed/flower
- Milk with honey – creamed/flower
- Tea with ginger – forest honey
- Herbal teas – linden honey
If you're still not sure – we have clear advice for you: try it. Nothing will convince you better. And when you realize in a few months that you "somehow" missed the traditional autumn cold or sore throat this time, you'll know who to thank!
